"pass" 到底是“通过”还是“没通过”?

pass 既是一个及物动词，也是一个不及物动词。

作及物动词的时候，pass 的意思是通过，所以 pass something 就是说通过了。通过考试就是 pass the exam， pass the interview 就是通过面试。

pass on something 放弃机会；不参加

作不及物动词的时候，pass 的含义是不接受不想要，如果 pass 和 something 中间有介词 on，我们就要理解为没通过。
