In the Victorian era, the residential architecture of the British colony was immersed in John Ruskin's articles, which idealized the interpretation of nostalgia and late romantic architecture of Gothic architecture. Lace, cutouts, intricate plaster details and exquisite woodwork were common ways of Victorian colonial houses.

This house in Bronte, a coastal suburb of Sydney, has many characteristics of the late Victorian style in a modest way.

Designed in the 1920s by Austrian architects Josef Hoffmann and Josef Frank, the ‘Prague’ chair, made by Thonet is a collector’s item. Paired with a very ‘chique’ Christophe Delecourt table, are good conversational pieces to discuss over breakfast.
